Carburisation may cause rejects
Unwanted carburisation reactions can occur during pressure sintering of diamond tools in graphite dies as well as during sintering of high performance ceramics on graphite support plates. Moreover, in sintering furnaces there frequently exists a danger of local overheating – these “hot spots” may cause unequal shrinkage of sintered parts. In all these cases costly rejects are the consequences.
