Conventional technical ceramics generate high maintenance efforts through thermal load

By far the largest portion of solar modules is based on crystalline silicon solar cells. Their basic structure is made up of monocrystalline or polycrystalline silicon wafers. During production of these silicon wafers in high temperature plants, the graphite or copper heating elements are protected by electrically insulating ceramics. Conventional ceramics are thus stressed to the limits of their thermal capacity because of the continual optimization of manufacturing methods. This leads to damage and thus time-consuming, expensive overhauls and repairs of the photovoltaic and solar production plants.

HeBoSint® Boron Nitride is considerably more durable than conventional ceramics in photovoltaic and solar production plants.

HeBoSint® is, as opposed to the materials used so far, the optimal high performance ceramic for use in high temperature furnaces employed in the manufacture of monocrystalline and polycrystalline silicon wafers. HeBoSint® Boron Nitride is distinguished by its outstanding thermal shock resistance and maximum electrical insulation. HeBoSint® Boron Nitride is considerably more dependable and long-lived than aluminium oxide, for example. At highest temperatures in vacuum or under shielding gas, HeBoSint® Boron Nitride ceramics are the optimal and often only solution.
