As an engineering ceramic, boron nitride is a truly versatile material that combines seemingly contradictory physical properties in a single substance. In addition to its outstanding machinability, it offers excellent thermal conductivity and high heat capacity, whilst also possessing excellent electrical insulating properties (low dielectric constant and high dielectric strength). Furthermore, the ceramic can withstand extremely high thermal loads and copes effortlessly with abrupt temperature shocks. This unique combination makes dense boron nitride (such as the HeBoSint® grades) the ideal solution for the most demanding high-temperature processes, where conventional materials reach their limits.
